Ideal First Date

There’s a question on Orkut profile: “Ideal first date”. I wrote a very romantic answer to this… But today if you ask me I will reply differently.

An ideal first date is the one which would put you firmly and irrevocably on a path to an eternal and beautiful relationship.

I have a weak heart. I cannot endure shattered dreams. What if a relationship started with the perfect first date… followed by one heavenly meet after the other… you think you have found a soul-mate. There are ominous signs but you disregard them. “Love conquers all”, “I love her precisely for this so-and-so of hers”, etc. etc. And then one day the reality strikes, what are disagreements first turn into fights. One thing leads to the other and where is the sweetness of the first date then…

Imagine the other situation. You both meet, but there are no sparks flying, no saxophones playing, she doesn’t look like “the one”. An uneventful first, second, third meeting… but slowly a bond develops. There’s mutual respect and understanding. And love grows like a seed to sapling to plant to tree. Slowly, surely, firmly. Nothing fantastic, nothing grand, nothing romantic. Yet pure love.

My idea is not the second or the first one – merely this – God if you have made a soul mate for me, please show me “this is the one”, please do not play with me, I cannot bear this cat-and-mouse play. Let us meet, let us fall in love, let me convey my feelings, let her accept them, and let us live happily ever after. If you want me to put through a test please let me know before hand – I will definitely pass. Come what may. But let there be no doubt about the candidate! And if there is no candidate for me in your scheme of things, OK! I’m completely ok. It’s the uncertainty that I dislike.

Give me permanence… Give me peace…

That is a very "philosophical" statement... right?

Can you please give your name - the name people call you by? I do not see how this can be twisted!

Can't wait... :)

oh yes and regarding the "philosophical" part; i read your blogs that were quite philosophical and heavy,so thought a little bit of philosophical talk wont harm either of us,so came here.
Ahem!regarding the "cant wait" part.....i just hope you dont start expecting too much out of this whole thing......hellloooo u dont even know who am i.......

Happy Friendship day!

i really pity the person who cud not be a part of ur life.....she is really unfortunate..what say?now thts an ego boost for u...aint it?

Girish said...

No - guess it is 95% chance of being female.

BTW, I consider myself a "zero ego" person. May not be 100% true - but I am definitely not looking for ego boosts. :-)

Well, I cannot be so sure that she was unlucky. Let us leave it at that - if u notice the date stamp - it was long time ago.

I do consider myself as a good reader of men. That's all - only men. Female elude me completely. It is far far too easy to size up a man.

Pics can be misleading if u just see one side. Remember a person is multi-faceted. I mean it figuratively too.

BTW, do u realise all tht we are talking is in full public domain. Like chatting on a loudspeaker!

Anonymous said...

hmmmm.....so u cant continue chatting on the blog nd i dont want to disclose my id,so i guess this is it then...well u were right,i am a woman. It was nice trying to know u.My blessings for u r still the same. take care friend.God bless u always.

he he he... that is sure a let down... but no problems...

tc... let just the conv flow

Girish said...

suffice to say - maybe someone wud have said/ may say the same thing of me... perhaps even u... In hindsight everything is easy. And ifs and buts are aplenty... god bless...

and what u said is a REAL ego booster. ;-)

Anonymous said...

have u ever tried to find what is ur purpose in life, i try hard to figure out mine, but in vain :(

Girish said...

Never tried that... :( guess was never so much planned in life... But maybe u can say - I want to have a peaceful death - to know that I have hurt no one and that I will be missed. that's all i guess.

Anonymous said...

uh... oh! talking bout death just like emily does mostly? well lucky u,u hv a clear vision bout ur life(or death!!???)

Girish said...

he he he... no I am very much alive and like to be. her idea of death is not horrid though. it is like finality. I guess she was actually looking forward to it. Nevertheless, she did not die early. :-)

I also like to live the way i said - hurting as little as possible. Although, many ppl may or may not agree. But true there is no "grand vision". Maybe little dreams etc. about home, family, kids (daughter basically ;-)) etc. nothing gr8.

Anonymous said...

so sweet....god bless u with all tht u dream of.

Girish said...

Girish said...
